Blackberry Passport

Blackberry Passport

Blackberry’s most ambitious cellphone yet.

Blackberry’s latest cellphone is the Blackberry Passport which will be appearing in stores fall 2014. Having experienced underwhelming sales with its first range of Blackberry 10 phones, Blackberry have seriously upped their game with the Blackberry Passport which is an intuitive smartphone with a strong focus on design.

Undeniably, the shape of the phone is first aspect that demands your attention when you pick up the Blackberry Passport. The phone features a unique screen which is a 4.5 inch square with an outstanding resolution of 1440×1440 pixels. However, this peculiar set-up is more than a gimmick. Indeed, by having a display which shows 60 characters in a single line better accommodates the average number of characters in a sentence (66). Regular, rectangular smartphone displays will only show 40 characters on a line when in portrait mode. A square screen eliminates the need for landscape modes and allows for a superior reading experience.

Blackberry has clearly been working hard on their keyboard technology to produce a new, touch-enabled physical keyboard which allows users to perform even more functions, allowing for greater productivity. This keyboard provides the physical keyboard experience that is synonymous with Blackberry and also allows users to use the keyboard as if it is a trackpad.

In addition to giving their flagship a major facelift, Blackberry has made notable advancements to their cellphone technology to produce their most powerful cellphone to date! Beneath the surface, the Blackberry Passport is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz quad-core processor which is backed up with a generous 3GB of RAM. The Passport will also come with 32GB of on-board storage and should you need more storage, you can top up the memory with a memory card.

Battery life is a major concern for many smartphone users as lots of features and fast processing often comes at the expense of decent battery life. However, this is not the case with the Blackberry Passport which is equipped with an enormous 3450mAH battery which will give you enough power to get through at least a full day of intensive use!

The Blackberry Passport will be the first Blackberry to feature a virtual assistant to rival the likes of Siri, Google Now and Cortana. Despite its rather uninventive name, Blackberry Assistant is an innovative piece of software that allows you to perform a range of tasks hands-free such as making calls and sending messages.
