Nexus 6

Google’s first phablet.

The Nexus 6 is the latest addition to Google’s lineup of Nexus cellphones and is set to replace the hugely popular Nexus 5. The next version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android Lollipop will debut on this flagship device.

As the device was developed by Motorola, it is perhaps unsurprising that the Nexus 6 takes a lot of its design cues from the Moto X. The device features a sleek design and is encompassed by an aluminum band. The device is available in both black and white versions and customers can choose between a 32GB and a 64GB model.

As the ‘6’ in the name suggests, the Nexus 6 has a 6-inch display (well, 5.96 inches if you want to be specific) which makes it the largest the phone that the company has released yet. The screen has an impressive pixel density of 493 ppi, making it even clearer than the iPhone 6 Plus’s 401 ppi.

Google have seriously upgraded the battery capabilities of their latest handset as the Nexus 6 features a powerful 3,220mAh battery which can give you at least a full day’s use. In addition, the Nexus 6 features Turbo Charging which means that a 15 minute charge can supply your phone with up to 6 hours of power. The Nexus 6 has a powerful Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7 GHz processor which makes light work of multitasking and the Adreno 420 GPU offers lag-free graphics.

While Nexus cellphones have always been praised for their photography abilities, the camera on the Nexus 6 is particularly amazing. On the back of the phone you will find a 13MP camera complete with an f2.0 lens and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). This promises excellent photos even in poorly lit settings. On the front of the phone there is a 2MP camera which is perfect for video calls and selfies.

The new Android Lollipop operating system has a number of helpful features and interface tweaks that allow for an even better cellphone experience. Android Lollipop has a new power-saving mode which, when activated, can extend battery life by up to 90 minutes. Android Lollipop also allows for better synchronization between Android devices as it allows you to pick up where you left off with recent searches and apps across devices.

Although the Nexus lineup of cellphones have previously been very affordable, the Nexus 6 sports a higher price tag as it is rumored to cost around $649 off-contract (official prices released soon).

Clocking in at a mere 136g, LG and Google have made this larger smartphone both lighter and slimmer than it predecessor. The Nexus 5 has a sophisticated, minimalist design and is widely available in white and black. In addition, there is also now a red version of the phone. All versions of the Nexus 5 come have a wireless charging back plate, allowing you to quickly and conveniently charge your Nexus 5 on a charging pad!

The Nexus 5 is running on the latest version of Google’s Android operating system and is powered by a formidable 2.26GHz quad-core processor. While these specs certainly give some of the most high-end devices on the market a run for their money, the Nexus 5 has a very reasonable price tag.

On the back of the cellphone there is an 8MP camera which has advanced technology to ensure that you capture perfect photos even in the most challenging of settings. In addition, there is an all-new Auto Awesome application which makes collages, animations and panoramas from pictures you are in the process of taking.
