Moto E

The latest edition to Motorola’s line up of smartphones is the Moto E, a reasonably priced smartphone that is big on features. The Moto E is designed to be a cheaper alternative to the already budget-friendly Moto G.

The Moto E has a simple design that is sophisticated and unassuming, certainly not boring. The phone Moto E is a little chunky as it clocks in at 12.3 mm thin. However, the subtle curve in the design of the rear panel makes it very comfortable to hold. The Moto E is also super durable as the display is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass to protect against scuffs and scratches. In addition, the phone has a water-resistant splash guard, protecting it against spills and splashes.

The phone has a 4.3 inch screen with a 960 x 540 pixel display. While this may be a little wanting for some, given the Moto E’s rock-bottom price, it is class-leading. The Moto E runs on Android 4.4.2 and while the OS has been pretty much left untouched by Motorola, Motorola have preloaded the phone with a careful selection of apps. As well as the basic Google Apps, like Google Maps and Gmail, the Moto E comes with Migrate and Assist. Migrate is a helpful application that allows you to easily transfer all of the content from your old phone, such as contacts, messages and data, seamlessly to your new Moto E. Assist is perhaps the most useful of the Moto E’s Motorola apps. Assist allows you to set times when your notifications won’t go off, such as in meetings or while at college.

The Moto E comes with 4GB of on-board memory which is enough for most basic smartphone users. However, if you need to top up the on-board memory there is a microSD slot which allows you add up to a further 32GB of memory to the cellphone.
