Pantech Cellphones

Pantech Cellphones

Founded in 1991, Pantech is a South Korean telecommunications conglomerate that manufactures wireless mobile phones for both AT&T and Verizon. As of 2014, this provider is likely to file for bankruptcy; it is nearly $475 million dollars in debt. It is quite interesting to note that this provider has been quite popular in South Korea before making its way into the United States market. Within no more than 30 days of its release, the Pantech Vega Secret Note was sold to more than 200,000 customers. An interesting feature of this supplier is that many of its physical designs are seen to rival larger companies such as Apple and Samsung. Still, their prices are much more amenable.

The Pantech C630 is a smaller phone approximately the size of a candy bar. It boasts an MP3 player, a MicroSD card slot, full GPS systems, a 1.3-megapixel camera and a small 1.8-inch display screen. While not as functional more advanced phones, the C630 is ideal as a starter model or for a young child. 3G connectivity is included as standard.

The Pantech Slate is similar in functionality to the C630 although it also offers a full QWERTY keyboard (not a touchscreen). It also has a 1.3-megapixel camera however there is no GPS functionality or 3G services. These can be compared to older Samsung phones.

The Pantech Matrix is another popular model. It is a double-slide phone and it also offers a full QWERTY keyboard. A T9 keyboard is likewise included. This allows the double slide action to be quite unique. When the cover is slid up, the T9 keyboard is available while when the cover is slid to the left, the QWERTY keyboard can be accessed. 3G services are available and a slightly larger display (at 2.2 inches) helps increase the overall resolution of this model.

Other interesting models include the Pantech Laser, the Pantech Breeze, the Pantech Link and the Pantech Ease. Those who are looking for a cost-effective and reasonably functional alternative to the more expensive brand names may very well appreciate the models that Pantech has to offer. However, much of this availability will be determined by the pending bankruptcy proceedings which are occurring.
