While Samsung have made use of the Tizen operating system in their latest range of smartwatches, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Neo, the Samsung Z will be the first smartphone in the world that runs on this operating system. Like Android, Tizen is a Linux-based operating system designed for smartphones and tablets. However, it has a number of features that make it stand out from the crowd. To begin with, Tizen boasts superior memory management, making it faster than its rivals. In addition, its user interface is highly customizable. But the main attraction of Tizen is that it is more accessible for third-party developers as it supports HTML5, JavaScript and CSS.

In terms of appearance, the Samsung Z has a squared design which seems to mark a departure from the rounded look that is synonymous with Samsung’s range of Galaxy smartphones. However, keeping in tune with Samsung’s high-end smartphone designs, the Samsung Z has a faux leather back plate.

The Samsung Z has a 4.8-inch AMOLED display with a respectable resolution of 1280 x 720, making it great for watching movies on and browsing the web. On the back of the device you will find a powerful 8MP camera and on the front there is a 2.1MP camera for video calls and front-facing photographs. Like the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Samsung Z features a finger print scanner and a heart rate sensor.

The Samsung Z is powered by a reliable 2.3GHz quad-core processor and is backed up by 2GB of RAM. The device also has 16GB of on-board storage and a microSD slot, allowing you to top up the phone’s memory if needed.

Currently, the Samsung Z is set for release in Russia later this year and depending on the success of its Russian launch, Samsung may consider launching the Samsung Z in the US.
